The important thing is not being afraid to take a chance. Remember, the greatest failure is to not try. Once you find something you love to do, be the best at doing it.
World Landscape Architecture Month 2026
Yesterday, we kicked off World Landscape Architecture Month by celebrating the profession that shapes our environment. Today, as we continue our focus on Urban Spaces, let’s talk about how landscape architects are transforming our daily commutes and public journeys.
Think about your walk to work, your ride on public transport, or simply crossing a busy street. Are these experiences pleasant, safe, and green? This is where transit landscapes and pedestrian corridors come into play. Landscape architects design these vital connections, ensuring they are not just functional but also beautiful, sustainable, and enhance community well-being.
In Kenya, we are increasingly seeing projects that prioritize people over vehicles, creating shaded walkways, integrating local flora into bus stops, and designing plazas that serve as welcoming gateways to our transit systems. These designs reduce urban heat, improve air quality, and encourage healthier, more active lifestyles.
How does landscape architecture impact on your daily journey? Share your thoughts and photos of well-designed pedestrian paths or green transit areas in Kenya!
